2018 Cupid Made Me Do It race results

The 6th Annual Cupid Made Me Do It took place on Saturday, February 10th, in downtown Willimantic, and as usual, was run in conjunction with the Romantic Willimantic Chocolate Festival. This year’s event was unusual in that the 2 mile course was virtually free of snow and ice and temperatures reached the mid-forties. This probably contributed to the record number of runners who ran this year, and runners took advantage, posting fast times.

The first overall finisher was 17 year old Nathan Lieske from Bozrah in 11:21 for a 5:41 split, followed by Todd Bennett from Colchester in 11:25 and Brendan O’Rourke from Manchester in 11:35.

In the women’s division, Kelly Labanara from Chaplin was first in 12:29, followed by Tulsi Patel from Berlin in 13:35, and Cara Riley from Manchester in 13:42.

There were a number of younger runners who also participated, including 3 year old Emma Marsh from Bethany, who finished with her dad Dennis.

After the race, everyone convened at the Baptist church for awards and fellowship. As usual, all age group winners received a gourmet cupcake donated by race sponsor A Cupcake For Later. All the fanned out to downtown Willimantic to take part in the Chocolate Festival and try the many free chocolate samples being offered. And mark February 9th, 2019 on your calendar for next year’s event.
